Profile

Dr Wong Chin Khoon is a Consultant Paediatrician and Medical Director of the SBCC Baby & Child Clinic group. He practices at SBCC Baby & Child Clinic (Tiong Bahru) and is experienced in managing common paediatric medical conditions, minor traumas and childhood immunisations for newborns, infants and children. Some of the conditions he treats include asthma, allergy, diarrhoea and vomiting. Other services include  developmental assessment, expanded immunisation services (including Influenza & meningococcal vaccination),  nutrition and growth assessment

Dr Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and completed his PaediatricSpecialist Training at the National University Hospital. He obtained the MOH HMDP training award where he further his specialist training in Paediatric Emergency at The renouncedHospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada in 2001. In addition, Dr Wong remains amongst only a handful of paediatricians who have received formal training in the field of Paediatric Emergency in Singapore

Background

Before joining SBCC, Dr Wong was the Head of Children’s Emergency Service at the National University Hospital (2002-2006) before moving  to the Department of Emergency Medicine, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (2007-2008). He was also formerly a Senior Consultant in the Contingency & Scenario Planning Division of Ops Group at the Ministry of Health where he was involved in the planning and assessment of the emergency disaster preparedness of the public hospitals (2008 to 2010). 

He  served as a specialist resource person for the Child Abuse Protection Team at the then Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and subsequently at the Child Abuse and Review Team at the Ministry of Social and Family Development (till2019).

He is also a member of Singapore Paediatric Societyand College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
